It is true that of all the styles of fences, these are probably the most maintenance free. However you can literally buy four wood fences for the same cost as one aluminum or iron fence. Wrought iron and aluminum fences add $0 more to your resale value than a wood one. They also offer absolutely no privacy, and in today's day and age where homes are built on top of each other, privacy can be a huge selling point when you move.
